  • Nintendo Samurai Warriors 3 Wii :

In Samurai Warriors 3, Players can choose from more than 35 playable samurai, many based on actual figures from Japanese history. Each stage is filled with fast-paced action as players are challenged to complete a series of objectives by fighting through hundreds of enemies on foot or on horseback.

Each samurai has different skills and weapons, and each one offers a different perspective on the overall story of the unification of Japan. Each samurai also has a different motive for combat. Some fight to unite Japan, while others seek to protect the honor of their clan and loved ones.

    - As players fight through hundreds of enemies, players can collect gems to upgrade to superior weapons and armor.
    - In the Murasame Castle mode, players help a lost Samurai fight his way out of a haunted castle. This mode is based on The Mysterious Murasame Castle, a game originally designed by Nintendo with input from developer Shigeru Miyamoto and released in Japan on the Famicom Disk System. In this mode, two players can battle cooperatively across long distances via broadband Internet access and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
    - Players can select the character's dialogue to be spoken in either Japanese or English.
    - The game can be controlled with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller combination, the Classic Controller, the Classic Controller Pro or the Nintendo GameCube controller.
    - Samurai Warriors 3 features a variety of special moves. For the Spirit Charge, hold the block button to block as well as fill up the Musou gauge. When the Musou gauge is full of electricity, players can execute a Musou Attack. And when both the Rengi and Musou gauges are full, that's the time to unleash an Ultimate Musou Attack, which deals lethal amounts of damage to all nearby enemies.

Developers Techmo Koei have taken a risk by allowing Nintendo exclusivity with this one. But it's a risk that may well have paid off...
  • Nice graphics and interesting dialogue along with the historical accuracies and strategic elements make this more than your garden variety slash-em-up.
  • Combat can get monotonous and it can be quite easy to get lost if you’re not paying attention to the map.

Pressing one button over and over and over again might sound dull, but it can be a compelling experience. It's all about the context in which those buttons are used. Look at the original Super Mario Brothers: you've got a direction pad, a jump button...

  • It’s going to be a little too simple for some, not enough new stuff here for Dynasty Warrior or Samurai Warrior veterans...

A lot of people think Omega Force don’t innovate with their long-running Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors games, but that isn’t strictly true – they just innovate at a glacial pace that only vampires and giant tortoises can keep up with. Trust us, by...

Samurai Warriors 3 is the third installment in the Samurai Warriors series and the first to be released on a Nintendo platform. Even though Tecmo Koei and Omega Force have handled the distribution and development of past games, Nintendo got its hands o...

The last time Samurai Warriors was on the Wii, it was the definitively unimpressive Samurai Warriors Katana, a game that eschewed the series' typical button mashing action for a first-person waggle fest. Having dispensed with motion gimmickry, Samura...

If you've played one game in the Warriors franchise, you've pretty much played them all. Koei's wheelhouse consists of so many hack-and-slash games set in ancient China that it's difficult to distinguish one from the next. Although the settings and str...
  • Cooperative modes help break up the monotony, Good variety of control options.
  • Mindless combat with nearly nonexistent AI, Overdramatic voiceovers of cheesy dialogue, No Wii Speak support for online coop, Lifeless enemy animations and blurry textures, Slow camera makes finding your way around a chore.

I feel bad for suckering my co-worker into playing Samurai Warriors 3 with me. Until now he'd been spared the drudgery of the various Warriors games, and I was hoping he might enjoy this one for the same reason I'd enjoyed them when they first started...
  • It’s telling to me that the biggest question that arises when anyone walks by my desk is, “Why are they still making these?” Everyone seems to be in consensus that these games have been chock full of the same boring gameplay for years now, so the only...

I apologise in advance if this review has a lethargic tone to it, but Samurai Warriors 3 has bored me into a state of journalistic fatigue. The mind boggling monotony of its story mode had me literally falling asleep at the controller (not literally)...

You may not have noticed, thanks largely to continual critical and commercial failure in the West, but Koei's series of Dynasty Warriors games are actually insanely popular in their Japanese homeland. With countless titles across all branches and spin-...
